Do you agree or disagree with this C.S Lewis quote ?

Post by Jolyon Trevelyan »

“Critics who treat 'adult' as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development. When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.”

― C.S. Lewis

Personally i agree with him 100%
A mistake is simply another way of doing things

I agree with this not just as a reader, but a fan of a variety of animation styles. Literature without pictures is great, but every now and then a graphic novel/comic book would catch my eye primarily because of its art style. I can appreciate children's books the same way.

Yes, completely. C.S. Lewis seems to be a constant voice in my head. He had many great things to say and was right in most.

I think fear of childishness is of the same species as general snobbishness or modern hipsterism. It's not about how good or bad something is so long as it comes in a pretty package. Also intellectual laziness, maybe. Install arbitrary frameworks and you won't have to think deeply ever again.

Thanks for sharing this great quote.
