I won my first spelling B when I spelled LSD right. The other kid lost because he tried
to spell lysergic acid diethylidimide. He was a better talker than a listener. Who else do we know like that? If you're on drugs, it's IMPOSSIBLE to misspell "drugs." Another good reason to make them mandatory. Lots of Americans are smarter than any of the elected
American Presidents. Why don't they run for Prez? They inhaled. If you do drugs you're
less likely to believe in god, alcohol, or Dr. Phil. And a lot of other lies. It's true. Drugs make you less dishonest. Telling people you're honest is dishonest. Telling people you
wish you were honest is less dishonest. Which would you rather have? Myself, I'd rather
have 76 Trombones and A Clarinet. Vote For ME, I'm less dishonest. HOOrah!

of drugs. It was never a big deal. If I wanted them, I met with my friend Dave Opiate
and I had them. When I was in love with Fran(like now), I'm so awestruck I don't have time for anything except picking the petals off of sun flowers and repeating my favorite mantra, "She loves me, she loves me not" ad infinitum. Some people would consider her response to my entreaties, utter contempt, to be
much more criminal than the crime I committed. Which would make me the saint and
she the sinner. But that's preposterous. MDF, My darling Fran, was conceived in Sainthood. And sits at The Right Hand of God whenever she wants to. I'm dying to go on our first date. And count ALL our freckles. Wow.
You don't need drugs. All you need is love.

addicted to gambling. Some of them were addicted to drugs as well. Lortab and oxycontin seemed to be the most popular. How did I deal with the madness? There wasn't any madness. Occasionally, there was sadness. Being around these sad, strung
out people didn't effect me at all. They had their rules and I had mine. The most important rule is that they can't be trusted. My uncle owes me $2000, which I'll never
see. I also know I'll never see him again. I loaned him the money. Zero down and zero
interest. If he was a man, he would have paid me long ago. But he's not. At the time,
we called it a loan. But we both knew it was a goodbye gift. The situation I've described is the life a lot of cabdrivers lead in Las Vegas. The level of their addiction is manageable: if they don't have money, they don't gamble. Some of them couldn't
manage and actually took down banks to get the money. I knew one of them. He had been a customer of the bank he robbed for 14 years before he robbed it. His wife
returned the money the next day in two black garbage bags. He was lucky. He pleaded
no contest and was given probation. Las Vegas is aware of "problem gamblers" and does what it can to alleviate the situation. Like forgive a bank robbery. The casinos
are not forgiving, and will chase you to the ends of the earth, to recover a dollar. Nevada legalized gambling in 1935. They did so knowing some visitors and locals
would become "problem gamblers", a nice term for addicted. So Las Vegas has been
prepared for an addicted population forever. That won't happen, but they're prepared.
Will towns, cites, population centers be similarly prepared for an addicted population,
even if it's only 1%? Don't say it can't happen. Anyone who says that shouldn't be allowed to decide his communities's position on drugs. Everybody has been talking
about marijuana use and how harmless it is. When they should be considering the down side. That's not negativity. That's responsibility. The criminal who used to be Mayor of New Orleans was asked, post Katrina, if he had drawn up a disaster relief
plan for his city. His answer was "No I hasn't. We jes nevah thinked it would happen.
But it sho did. Lawdy, lawdy, lawdy." Don't let your part of the planet be unprepared
for the accident waiting to happen. I'm your friend, Smokey the Barbituate.
