I didnt know they made a movie from it. I read the book in high school, the main thing I remember about it is that it was the first time I saw this one word in print that describes a sexual act. I was impressed.

The movie(1958) stars Aldo Ray as Croft and Cliff Robertson as Hearn. I liked the book better, although Robertson is real heroic as Lt. Hearn. Mailer's use of "fugg" never got in the way of enjoying the book. Over time, his insistence on reminding the reader that he was a man's man'sman's man did get annoying. I bailed on Norman halfway through "Executioner's Song". Poor Norman tried to recapture lost machismo through his association with a contemptible murderer.
