Life (You'll be the death of me)

Post by Cas Greenfield »

Life (You’ll Be The Death Of Me) – words and music Casimir Greenfield

Know one knows where the wind will blow
When the howling cry of a newborn babe first hits you
In the middle of the day in the middle of the night
The bright new light comes screaming in to greet you
So you throw in everything you have to give
Till the lifeblood flows from your open veins when they cut you
And buried deep among the corkscrew curls,
Lie the ruins and innocence of seasons and showers and summers, (hut you)
Created in mystery, in the throes of love
In the crucible of fire, in the stars above
As the first wild moments of the chain of life
Are beaten, cast and tempered at the gates of heaven…

From the rain forest windows of a suicide train
You trace a simple face of careless concentration
The sunspot glow obscures beyond,
The final glimpse of your splintered glass salvation
And you dry their tears with a broken soul
As you hide beneath the falling autumn deluge
You court the charcoal cinder night of sparks
Of blind man’s buff and bitter-sweet remembrance,
Created in mystery, in the throes of love
In the crucible of fire, in the stars above
Until the first wild moments of the chain of life
Are beaten, cast and forged with your love… (how does it feel…)

And life…life, life you’ll be the death of me…
Life…you’ll be the death of me…
Life…you’ll be the death of me…
Life…you’ll be the death of me…
I’ll live my life until my dying day
You’ll be the death of me

We strain to hear and make the choices
Based on nothing short of fascination
Watching, Waiting, hesitating, screaming loud, listening debating
The boiling seas and whirlwind heavens
Bring flesh and blood to the universe we’re creating
The hard edged words dissolve
into the fibres of the pages of my making
And here, within these paper walls,
The unwrit book of life lies quietly waiting.
Created in mystery, in the throes of love
In the crucible of fire, in the stars above
Until the first wild moments of the chain of life
Are beaten, cast and forged with universal love…

I love this poem! It made me really sad (That's a good thing) I liked the language you used and I think you are an awesome poet. That's just my opinion though, and I've never written a good poem in my life!
