I find this also happens sometimes when a fiction book gets turned into a movie. They will try to spice it up and sometimes aspects of the book are changed...even the ending.

That really seems to happen way too much in my opinion. It is really hard overall I think to bring a book to the screen effectively in the first place anyways.

I would not have thought so originally, but I can see how the author could take the story from where she ended it forward into another tale. It is actually quite intriguing to think where a continuation might go.
