Excellent review. It sounds like an interesting read. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and also mentioning that it does well when reading alone. 600 pages sounds like a fantastic challenge for any reader.

Wow! 600 pages of Middle Eastern history! Im not sure i could endure that much, but im sure you like this types of book much more than i do. I loved the review and the fact that you liked the book so much, i think i will have to pass on it though. Thank you anyway!

I am not a fan of historical fiction, but this sounds like a good book! I agree with your point about the monotony of discussions and events. Thank You for the honest and well written review.

I am not a fan of historical war fiction but I am happy you enjoyed it. It is great that the author includes charts and lists to help the reader. This book seems like a much bigger task than I am willing to take on. Great review!

Great review. It seems a good story...I liked that the characters were likeable. I read the first few pages, It does not seem to be my genre though.

I now want to read Defender of Jerusalem because I am an avid fan of a book that has a 12th century setting with a twist in that it explains a inside of world history. The review is thorough, and glad it wasn't a spoiler.

This sounds like an interesting book, but I don't want to work that hard to keep up with who is whom.

No problem! :D
Did you ever get around to reading the novel? A lot of people said it wasn't their cup of tea, so I'm trying to hunt down others who finished it. Just wondering what you thought of it overall!
