I'm glad I'm not the only one, there are some good lessons, but all in all it was hard for me to get through for me.bookowlie wrote:I read this book a few months ago as it was the monthly selection for my in-person book club. I have to admit this is not a book I would have read otherwise, as I don't care for books that are fables/parables. I liked it more than I thought I would, but didn't love it. There were a lot of great lines and good universal lessons, but I felt some of it dragged a little. I am sure I am in the minority here. Actually, one of my book club buddies was the one who strongly recommended the book to the group and loves it so much that she often buys copies for gifts.

The way Coelho explains the most complex of things in simple words is just amazing.

Paulo Coelho has been my favorite writer since I can remember. Though my fav. book is Atlas Shrugged, The Alchemist is a close second.
