Reviewer ALynnPowers mentions that readers of this novel will be impressed by how humans can survive in a society despite the loss of technology. Cassie shows that as she builds her own cinder block house while still maintaining her hero status to all the citizens of New Salerno. This novel might appeal to gamers who build new communities. The details revealed in the sample sound familiar. Cassie even spends time (in the sample) bemoaning the inability to read all the books she wants to read, a problem perhaps familiar to members of OBC.

Nice review! I just read the sample and the prose is both light and rich. Looks like an enjoyable Dystopian read from a talented writer.

The Maid of Salerno by Vi Zetterwall is an inspiring one. After flipping the sample pages, I vowed to finish the book and see what happens to Cassie. Each chapter gives an inspiring message for us to reflect on. I definitely recommend this book.

I enjoyed your insightful, thorough review. I don't usually read books in the dystopian genre, but you made the story sound interesting. I like that the paranormal elements are subtle and don't overwhelm the plot.

I usually don't gravitate toward this genre, but being YA makes it a little different. This review definitely convinces me it's worth the try!

Great review! I read the sample, and I thought the author hinted at some paranormal, but it never developed. I enjoyed the sample even without the paranormal, but that adds another layer. I am very intrigued after reading your review. I am going to purchase it now. I want to find out what happens! Thanks!

The title and the plot both are very interesting. The review has got me excited to read the entire book. Adding it to my "To-Read" shelf.

By chance I've read a lot of dystopian novels of late, some better than others, although this one sounds particularly intriguing. I like how you brought to light the paranormal aspects as something of a bonus, without actually giving away any spoilers. Thanks for a solid review.

I can really see how it will emphasize poverty and class discrimination. I'll be interested to find out how the paranormal elements weave into the story without making the dystopia seem too much like sci-fi or fantasy.
