"Bollocks!" she said. She had forgotten that it had broken several days ago. What now could she do but call for a taxi to take her to a library? It arrived, she got in and they sped towards the library.

All of a sudden, she had a flashback of last night's dream. Before she could utter a sound, her mouth is tied and a bag is covering her head.

"How can this be happening to me? What's going on?" she heard her own voice muffled bu the rags around her mouth. She felt her tailbone hitting a sort of cold, metallic bar. Feeling trapped and scared, she tried to vocalize in form of a question, but her throat was sore from screaming and her vocal chords had gone out.

She felt the cool air on her eyelids before she opened her eye, the bag had been removed. She surveyed the scene. In the corner on her right there was a dingy upholstered arm chair with a folded brown blanket tossed over the back. Beside the chair was a make shift table constructed of about 9 thick hardback books with varied colored covers. Atop the stack sat a half drank glass of water and a pair of spectacles. In the opposite corner...

In the opposite corner was yellowed pages and pages of ancient writings. When she peered closer she saw that the date was 1793 and the signature was George Washington. She realized, with excitement as she started to read that she had uncovered a mystery in history.

As soon as she realized something serious was happening, she heard the dry thump of steps approaching. Her heart skipped a beat and restarted beating at full throttle. She could feel her ribcage trembling with her rushed breathing and fell in such a shock that not even a tear built up in her eyes. Her mind was blank. A warm and strong hand seized her arm.

Then she remembered: a book, a mystery, hands tied, blackouts, flashes of light. Maybe the meds mom had given her had stopped working. She'd remember to talk to her about it when she got home.

When she woke up she found her brother staring at her with his big blue eyes filled with concern and fear. Her wrists were tied to the bed and the walls around her were as white as the icy jail.

Brineesha had her mouth glued shut and could not utter a sound. She just lay there as still as possible without knowing how to communicate.
