Sounds an interesting read. Being a paranormal fan this would be definitely up my street. Will look forwards to reading it.

I loved this review, and want to read this book. I have just downloaded it. Any book that brings a reviewer to tears, and which is described as "brilliant" with such an engaging story line has to be read. Very smart review!

What genre(s) and/or subgenre(s) would you place this book under?

I really loved the book, I get quite attached to books that being narrated throw a boy's perspective (ex: Mysterious skin, outsiders), and the author was really good conveying the young boy's emotions which is not easy.
I recommend the book for everyone who enjoys a good fiction :)

Could I recommend Pigeon English by Stephen Kelman to you - the narrator and central character is an 11 year old boy. If you do decide to read it I'd love to have your opinion.

I actually found it to be really enlightening because of the living conditions the story took place in. This book definitely highlights the fact that people can be just as scary as the paranormal.

Really like your comment here "...people can be just as scary as the paranormal." If this is a general theme in the book, then it seems it would be worth picking up.

Years ago, I read a book titled "I Never Promised You A Rose Garden". It was the story of a young girl's journey back to mental health. Her journaling was as effective for her as that of "The Boy who Lived With Ghosts" Each of them found release and wellness in the telling of their stories.

Although this sounds like a great book, I don't think I can handle reading about a child being molested. I read to escape reality. Your review was insightful, thank you.

Sounds interesting. At first, what got my attention was "The Boy Who Lived" part because the Harry Potter fangirl inside of me just immediately spotted it among litter of text on the forum. xD Anyway, great review, I'll definitely check this out.

This book looks very intriguing. The ghosts that haunt the protagonist being important but secondary to the process of growing from boy to teenager, and coping with very real life monsters in abusers.
