Re: Fifty Shades of Grey

I agree with the fact that her writing wasn't so perfect but it doesn't mean that the book was all that bad.I haven't normally read that type of genre before till I stumbled upon Fifty Shades of Grey. This book is not just all about erotica and porno it also has a story of it's own if you would have finished through the second book it might have interested you.Without giving spoilers I can say this book also talks about how Ana becomes less boring and more exciting through her inner goddess .Also how she helps Mr.Grey with his troubling past of how he has shaped his life through his mother and Mrs.Robinson.

Yes...the BDSM aside...and the "badly in need of a harsh editing" aside, I found the psychological aspect of the Trilogy to be exceptional. Like you, I enjoyed the banter between the characters, especially in the form of the e-mails in the second book. This could have easily been edited into one REALLY REALLY outstanding novel. JMO.

I finally took the time to sit down and read this trilogy and I read them in 2 days. I couldn't seem to put the books down. It would drive my boyfriend crazy because that's all I did when I woke up, got home from work, and before bed. I loved her style of writing, minus those occasional parts that could use editing. I was definitely upset when I I finished that last book.

well its a book about erotica and experimenting in bed. its a soft porn novel which wont really please every ones senses. i when i read it found it interesting because the lead character Christian grey has been showcased as dream guy for many of us-- super rich, super handsome n super raw in bed. but yes a few things are repulsive about him which u do tend to ignore. read this if u fancy mills and boons stuff in a more refined n hard hitting version :) id say thumbs up (y)

With all the excitement of the movie being produced, I had to read the books. Like many have stated, you start to read and it was difficult to put the books down until the trilogy was completed. I was very caught up in the love story of Christian Grey and Ana Steele. Yes, many detailed scenes described, but if one does not know his "lifestyle" then it would be hard to understand the entire meaning the story. I did like the style of her writing. I will probably read the books again because I went through them so fast.

Fifty Shades of Grey by E. L. James Is an Erotic Trilogy. It's about a a budding romance between a guy and a girl from two completely different worlds. I love Anastasia's quite character. She's so timid and when she meets the infamous Christian Grey she's knows that he's way out of her league. She knows that he is dangerous and could be potentially bad for her, but she cannot fight the attraction she has for him. Christian Grey sees Anastasia, and although he tried to fight his attraction to her as well, he cannot stay away from her. The magnetic pull between these two lovable characters is to die for. I would strongly recommend this Trilogy to be read. I give it a 5 out of 5 stars!

Fifty shades of grey depicts a very misleading, narrow mindded image of the BDSM ( Bondage/Dominance, Sado Masichism) world. It is poorly written in my opinion and I rather regret reading it. The idea is somewhat intriguing and if it were written well, it might have changed my opinion. It is a fun read, but you should not expect too much from it and you should take the information with a grain of salt.

I still laugh at the thought when a colleague, a guy friend opened a conversation about the Fifty Shades Trilogy almost 2 years ago. We're eating lunch and I said, I'm curious about the fuss, I wanna read it! Voracious reader I've been, I know it's gonna be a different reading experience. He muttered, "But hey, if you're a virgin, it isn't for you!" he winked. I guessed he just wanna confirm , "Of course! but I still wanna read that!" I almost rolled my eyes with a grin.

After reading the first chapter, I got so bored...seriously! It's vivid and wild, I can't relate, and yeah, curiosity killed the cat! But I dragged myself in finishing the series, for the sake of finishing. I remember it sometimes when I'm in the elevator, near the piano, etc. LOL!

Don't waste your money and time with this. The story (oh, there isn't one) is predictable, boring, unbelievable, unimaginative and IRRITATING. (SHOUTY CAPITALS!) Hats off to the author for stretching the non-existing story into three, yes, three novels. She must be laughing all the way to the bank! Not only is there no story (oh, I've mentioned that - must be her repetitiveness rubbing off!), it's badly written and the characters are so wooden its embarrassing. I've read better Mills and Boon in my time!!! I'm sure EL James was inspired by Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz - how many "oh my's" can a girl say??? I was waiting for the shoe tapping! Or maybe that was me willing myself to finish the books. But best of all was the "inner goddess." I have to be honest - she was my favourite. I mean, come on, she at least showed some pizazz and backbone, unlike darling Anastasia (what kind of name IS that?) Was she dreamt up after watching too many Disney cartoons? I kept expecting her to break out into a song and dance routine. At least that would have broken the monotony. And of course, the "b..t..d" oops, sorry, "hero" (with issues - get a GRIP) just HAD to be a multi multi millionaire who can fly his own helicopter, with his own jet blah blah blah blah and can magically appear in doorways in a matter of seconds the moment she does something he doesn't approve of, rubbing his lower lip, with a glass of whiskey in tow. As one does!!!!

Fifty Shades is more than a story about sex and passion. I think it shows women what that relationship with that hot steamy guy which every women dreams of. The sex that never ending and seemingly has no consequences. Isn't every women's dream to have guy buy you designer clothes, shoes, etc. Even if you aren't into that stuff just try it. I was skeptical and I finished all 3 books in a week. ;)

I read these books to see what the hype was about, and while I found them poorly written and the story line seemed to be one out of highschool (I love ,I hate you, I love you, I hate you, and on and on) I finished them up. It was a constant on the same plot, and the sex scenes well, some were steamy but that is not how BDSM really is. I found the Crossfire series much more interesting.
50 shades was an ok read at best and it's now a set that's sitting on my shelf collecting dust. (Why can I not bring myself to give books away!? lol)
Won't pick it up again, that's for sure. I'm interested to see how the movie plays out I'm sure it will be just like the books though, a "C" grade at best.

There was a need for some missed editing in this trilogy, but I found the series to be good. You must read all three books to discover there's more to the story than the BDSM. The way Ana and Christian discover themselves throughout the trilogy made it worth reading.

If I were to compare the Crossfire series to the 59 Shades series I would have to say from the erotica standpoint Crossfire wins. It was more realistic than 50 Shades.

Reading it is like reading any other trashy novel to me. A lot of fluff. Down to earth girl means rich guy and they live happily ever after. I enjoy it on a very shallow, entertaining level, but it doesn't do very much for me on an intellectual basis. In fact, I find the 1st part more interesting but gets boring without the ups and downs by the 2nd book. I read the 3rd book just to find out whether it picks up or continues to be disappointing which it appears to be.

I read fifty shades to see what everyone was hyping about and honestly it's not all as graphic as everyone makes it out to be, I thought the story line was good and although I still can't get my head around Christian grey(I know he's supposed to be mysterious) I thought they're relationship is semi interesting and it ended at a point leaving me with a need to read the next one!

I am new this but saw a discussion board about one of my favorite series. If you have not read it yet, or have been curious just take a leap and read the series. The store line is great, and the other scenes the author paints is amazing :)
