I went with the 5 star, I kind of feel that 5 star books would be exceptional, 4 stars incredibly good, 3 stars an acceptable way to spend an afternoon, 2 stars why did you waste my afternoon, 1 star a real stinker where they should pay me for wasting my afternoon.

That's more or less the way I rate when using a 5-star system. For me 3-stars is an average book, nothing special but not bad either, every book starts at a 3-star rating for me then goes up or down once I start reading (and finish). I went with the 1/2 star ratings for the poll because it seemed like it would be easier to implement within the current system (yet as I think on it now I'm not sure exactly why I thought that but that's how I voted).
