Iamobama, what did you read by Kundera? I respect your opinion, but I am just curious what books have you read by Kundera?

I personally LOVE Kundera; I read "The unbearable lightness of being" when I was 17; That made me a very picky and demanding reader. That specific novel, I read it around 4 or 5 times, and I could find different messages every single time. I continued with "Life is Elsewhere", "The Joke", "The ignorance" "El libro de la risa y el olvido" "El libro de los amores ridículos". However, I didn't enjoy his last book, which was released a couple years ago.

I have yet to read him but I find excerpts of his work very good. I have quite a few of his books on my to-read list.

I read The Unbearable Lightness of Being several years ago and absolutely loved it. It was gorgeous. I need to read more of his work. I read Immortality by him recently, but I didn't care for it overall. It was a bit too meandering for me.

For those who haven't heard of him, he is (was) a Czech author who later moved to France. Now he writes pretty much only in French, even though his works are translated into other langauges. I think people recognize him the most in European countries, though. I read Immortality and it was not one of the best books. Loads of characters, descriptions, philosophy references and plot twists so you kind of get lost in all of that. I read it in preparation for a discussion and about half percent of people shared my opinion. The one who proposed the book also agreed it wasn't one of Kundera's best. Perhaps we should've stuck with The Joke. I'll give him another chance, though.
