I track my favorite authors and series ruthlessly. Stalking their websites for updates, preordering books, and setting my alarm for 3am to start reading said book as soon as it hits my kindle.

Not too close to be honest... I would like to follow a couple a bit better but I just keep an eye out for new release lists.

I can't believe the diversity in answers

I have levels of following...but if read a series, I follow up to see when I get the next one.
I'm very impatient like that

If I really like the author, I will follow their blogs, and read their websites habitually, so that way I know when I will be able to read another great book!

I have never really keep close watch on an author. But I have never really sought out books based on the author alone, no matter how much I like their other books. I am starting to do so now I suppose.

If I really enjoy a book/author I always follow it up for others, usually with an online site with my local municipal library, also I will purchase new on-line, especially if Goodreads have spoken well of the book in question. My latest follow up was a novel by Thomas Savage "The Power of The Dog" this I own and since then have purchased two "The Sheep Queen" and "The Pass" these three I treasure. Savage (now deceased)was a wonderful author.

I am great friends with close to 100 fellow authors and keep up with all of them and they do the same with me. I have valued the input all of them have given to me and made me better as an author and I pray I have done the same for them as well.

All my favorite authors are dead. There's not much I can follow :(

I follow Stephen King somewhat closely. I'm always interested in checking out what he's released during the current year, and what movies and shows he has directed or written. For him, and some other authors I enjoy, I'll check out a biography page about them, in case any of their relatives write as well. It helps to find new novels to read :)

I keep an eye out at my library if an author has really caught my attention, but that's about it.

I love following Zadie Smith; watching her sort through her thoughts in interview is a very beautiful experience.

I am a fan of New Testament scholar, Bart Ehrman. I follow his blog, facebook, etc. I have read all of his books, and engage with other biblical scholars about differences of opinion regarding his work. I also follow fiction authors like Robert B. Parker, Janet Evanovich, Stephen King, Patricia Cornwell, John Grisham, etc. I try to read every book in sequence.

I use to read All the books I could by Iris Johanson. I was in love with her books. Now I prefer changing authors after two books so things don't get repetitive.
