I was addicted to Philip K. Dick (still not cured...), due to his take on totalitarian societies (of course extrapolated and projected into the realm of sci-fi that went undetected by the censors of the society I was living in...).

My favorite author in high school was John Steinbeck. The opening paragraph of The Grapes of Wrath blew me away, and still does for its lyricism and foreboding tension. I went on to read Cannery Row, The Winter of Our Discontent, and some others.

Dickens. And he's still one of my favorites.

I'm almost ashamed to say this, but Enid Blyton was the only favorite author I've ever had. Although, a book that had the greatest impact on me during my high school years is The Chrysalids by John Wyndham.

Definitely Philippa Gregory. I still like her a lot, but I haven't been much in the mood to read her books.

In high school I would have to say I loved J.K. Rowling and V.C. Andrews. I still love Rowling's books but have to say I don't care for V.C. Andrews since the family took over writing the unfinished books and new ones. To me they just aren't the same.

Oh and I had also discovered Laurell K Hamilton my junior year. I'm surprised my teachers let me read them during class. My English teacher actually let me do book reports on them too!

I loved Louise Rennison, Katie Maxwell, and the Gossip Girl books. I was also very deeply invested in Harry Potter, I was obsessed.

For some reason, I seem to recall spending my high school breaks reading Shakespeare plays. And Christopher Pike with a dash of LM Montgomery. It was a peculiar combination.

Mine was S.E Hinton
I lost track of how many times I read "The Outsiders". I respected her so much for the young age she was when she wrote it. Really inspiring.
