That's actually a tough one for me, I would want her to read it on one side because she is published and knows what it takes to be an author on todays terms but on the other hand, because I have no experience professionally writing a book I'd be afraid that I would disappoint her in some way.

No way! I'm too self-conscious about my writing. But even if I weren't, the best writers aren't able to please everybody. They would just be giving their opinion and everybody has one of those.

Once I gave a new author a review, and she told me she would read one of my books in return. I never heard from her again. I guess that means she didn't like it. 8)

I would love to have my favourite author read my book. It's kind of like motivation. Write a book that's so good that your favourite author would love to read.

To be honest, I would be really intimidated to have my favorite author read any book that I wrote. I wouldn't want to take the chance that they don't like it. On the other hand though, If they did like it then that would make me feel incredibly good about my book. I would probably have to go with no. I wouldn't even want to chance it.

Yes, I would want his (Nicholas Sparks') opinion on the plot, storyline, etc. He would have a lot of good things to say. I respect his opinion, and I adore him as a writer, author, and human being

NO I would be way too scared to send in my amature-ish writing to someone so professional. That being said my favorite author is actually dead so it would be impossible.

That would make it a little bit difficult. Unless, you know, zombie and all that. 8)

I'm with you. There's no way I would send my book to my favorite author. If I become, say, a NY Times Bestselling author someday, and my favorite author (SK among others) comes at a booksigning of mine looking for my autograph, fine. But before all that, before I make my mark as a writer, absolutely not!

Imagine Z going to A saying, "I want to be a painter just like you. Here, I painted this one last night. Do you like it?"

A looks at the painting, and gives it back. "This is the worst painting I've ever seen in my life. Cave drawings are better than these. Burn it."

Maybe someday, but not now! She's my idol, and I would take any negative review to heart! Maybe down the road when I would feel more confident in my writing, but probably still not even then!!

I tried to get my favorite indie author to read my book, but she wouldn't because she thought she was too good for it.

Sounds frustrating!

And reminds me of the thread about authors who are complete jerks 8)

Yes, but not at the moment. I feel like I have so much work to do and compared to them, they'll see it as gibberish.

I would love it if Morecambe and Wise were still alive, they wrote comedy sketches on Britsh TV, I think they would enjoy my book......well after taking out the bad language.
