What genre of books do you steer clear of, any why?

I personally try to stay away from non-fiction history, just because I find it hard to connect with any of the people in the books. What genre do you avoid?

YA Series. They are just to 'marketed' these days, just like music 'artists'.

Modern Lit-fic, because the current fad is for completely unappealing characters, and because the genre takes itself way too seriously.

Romance, because I can't get excited about whether 2 people I don't know end up in bed together. When they try to mix it with other genres, the characters come across as eejits, because they're supposed to be dealing with some serious situation, and they instead they act like sex-crazed teenagers. Like, "He knew his best friend would bleed to death if he didn't get some pressure on the bullet wound, but right now the only pressure he could think of was the pressure of her body on his..."
You can't put a rope around the neck of an idea.

Horror books. I don't like reading a book that is going to make me feel frightened. I read to feel good.

Non-fiction (unless it is a topic I am really interested in). I read to 'lose' myself and take a break from 'real' life.

I stay away from non fiction. I usually will only read romance books because they have a happy ending and it helps me not think about all the bad stuff that happens in the world.

I stay clear of satanic, jacobean styled novels that are hard to get through, like Hawksmoor. Thankfully there aren't many so that's simple to do.

Non fiction unless it's something really interesting and informative.
Heavy horror, because I read to escape and feel good, not to come out of it feeling creepy.
Erotica because, well, just because.

Romance; Horror

I'm surprised at the number of people who don't like non-fiction. I love biographies, memoirs and stories about real people--some of them are really difficult to put down. :)

Most science-fiction and romance. I've read a few of the classics and the genres just doesn't do it for me.

I usually stay away from non-fiction and romance. I actually do enjoy a "sprinkling" of romance in other genres I love (fiction, fantasy, science fiction, etc.), but I don't care for books that are pure romance.

Horror because it's not my thing. Increasingly skeptical of YA after reading a lot that I disliked and rereading some I liked when I first read them and now don't.
