Is anyone here rereading Michener or reading him for the first time?
James Michener may have been the most famous historical fiction writers when I was a kid. Over 40 hardcore, mostly long books. A man who at one time owned the worlds largest private library. Maybe this will jog your memory:
Michener wrote Hawaii, Texas, Alaska and Chesapeake. (That Michener)
I forgot him on my favorites list, yet I have decided to reread on kindle some of my favorites, since I lost my hard cover books years ago in different moves across the country.
Hawaii was very famous and even became a big movie; yet it would not be on my top ten lists. If I can (these are giant meaty books) I will reread Texas, Alaska and Chesapeake this summer.
I can't recommend them highly enough.

My second favorite author is Haruki Murakami. His novels always leave me in a dream-like trance or a stupor. I always find myself questioning reality after I finish one of his books.
Third, Augusten Burroughs is my hero for his raw honesty in his memoirs. He speaks so truthfully about life and himself and his books are always tugging on my emotions. Especially, "Dry" which is about his recovery from alcoholism.

J.K. Rowling- Yes, I know. I didn't read much prior to the Harry Potter series, so it/she will always have a place in my heart...

Ugh, I just have to push submit before I overthink this! So many to choose from; how to narrow it down to 3?
