There are so many excellent authors writing today that it is hard to list just three. My interests vary from romantic to horror, a good suspense, true crime, and heaven forbid I leave out fantasy! So I can only answer for the moment, lets see...

R.A. Salvatore, currently reading "Ascendance"
Dean Koontz "The Bad Place"
Christine Feehan "Dark Destiny"

I answered this question already, however . . .

Is anyone here rereading Michener or reading him for the first time?

James Michener may have been the most famous historical fiction writers when I was a kid. Over 40 hardcore, mostly long books. A man who at one time owned the worlds largest private library. Maybe this will jog your memory:

Michener wrote Hawaii, Texas, Alaska and Chesapeake. (That Michener)

I forgot him on my favorites list, yet I have decided to reread on kindle some of my favorites, since I lost my hard cover books years ago in different moves across the country.

Hawaii was very famous and even became a big movie; yet it would not be on my top ten lists. If I can (these are giant meaty books) I will reread Texas, Alaska and Chesapeake this summer.

I can't recommend them highly enough.

Tami Hoag, her mystery thrillers are always suspenseful. Anne Rice, I absolutely loved her vampire chronicles. Jeaniene Frost because I'm addicted to her night huntress series.

I usually say to my friends, when talking about books, that John Katzenbach was the first to "blow my mind" on "The psychoanalyst" of course that was many years ago, but i guess you always remember the first time. Next i'll have to say Stephen King, because i was actually terrified reading his first books. Lastly i would say Ken Follet.

It is always so hard to answer the question, "Who is your favorite author?" because so many have impacted me and my writing. My favorite writer of all-time is Rainer Maria Rilke, mainly because of his "Letters to a Young Poet." His writing has helped me daily through life and in my writings.

My second favorite author is Haruki Murakami. His novels always leave me in a dream-like trance or a stupor. I always find myself questioning reality after I finish one of his books.

Third, Augusten Burroughs is my hero for his raw honesty in his memoirs. He speaks so truthfully about life and himself and his books are always tugging on my emotions. Especially, "Dry" which is about his recovery from alcoholism.

Jane Austen, L.M. Montgomery, Lori Wick

Ugh, I just have to push submit before I overthink this! So many to choose from; how to narrow it down to 3?
