Kurt Vonnegut (both his novels and his short stories),
Tennessee Williams, assuming you group playwrights under the "author" umbrella
Gail Carson Levine (I read her books as a kid and they're kind of my guilty pleasure)

This is such a hard question, but I would have to go with (in no particular order):
Jane Austen, Nicholas Sparks, John Green

Definitely my number one favorite is J.R.R. Tolkien. I go through his works at least once a year. Second favorite is Ruta Sepetys, author of "Between Shades of Gray" and "Out of the Easy." She's amazing. And for my third favorite, I have to go with J.K. Rowling. Her books have had such an impact on my life, and she is an astounding woman.

1. Laurell K. Hamilton - All of her books are amazing but I particularly like the Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series and the stand alone Death of a Darklord
2. Stephen King - Under the Dome and Duma Key are the two I've read most recently but I've never read a King book I didn't like.
3. Kim Harrison - I love the Hollows series. I got totally caught up in the world of witches and demons.

It's tough but I can just about narrow it down to:

1. Jane Austen
2. Charles Dickens
3. Agatha Christie
