I'd definitely have to go with R.L. Stine as my favorite childhood author. Though the basic formula was the same for each of his Goosebumps books, it was a formula I loved and never grew tired of.

My favorite has always been Roald Dahl. His stories were always so magical for me and it is so exciting to be able to read them to my children now.

I think one cannot go wrong with Dr. Seuss... it never ceases to amaze me how some of his works remain relevant after all these years (to children and adults alike).

My favourite would be Cornelia Funke. She wrote a lot of books but my favourite out of them is the InkHeart Trilogy, this book out of her others is not for little children who are just learning to read but it is awesome :D

The first author that comes to mind is Barbara Park. When I was younger I was OBSESSED with Junie B. Jones. I thought she was so witty and confident. On occasion, I'll still open up a book and laugh at the crazy antics and things she says

I love margaret peterson haddix and her Shadow children series.
Then my other fav would have to be Neal Shusterman and his Unwind series.
They are both excellent writers and all there books are great for both children & adults.

The Nancy Drew series by Carolyn Keene is an all time favorite of mine. Of course there's also Roald Dahl with Matilda, which is another really good one.

Hey! The first novel I ever read was when I was in the first grade. It was winter vacations and since both my parents had full time jobs, they used to drop me off at the British Council Library and I used to spend my day there. I started out with 'Famous Five' by Enid Blyton. Though it has been a long time since I have read anything by her, my childhood was consumed with the 'Famous Five', 'Secret Seven' and many many more stories by her. Needless to say, I had an amazing childhood. :lol2:

Robb White! I read his first book when I was in 4th grade, and searched for 20 years to find it again! Finally found it and re-read it as an adult and fell in love all over again.

I think it is J.K. Rowling. Even though I read 'Harry Potter' when a teenager but I would have loved it as a child.

Dr. Seuss! Absolute genius!! His stories are timeless.
I am also a huge fan of Julia Donaldson. Aside from creating The Gruffalo, she has written some fantastic picture books. Stickman is my favourite.

My daughter wants to hear Enid Blyton's Faraway Tree stories again and again. Fantastic, I love them too.
