The easiest way to meet an author is to go to an author event at a local bookstore. I have met(and taken pictures with) so many I cannot possibly remember them all, but favorites are Chris Bohjalain, Beatriz Williams, Candace Bushnell, Fanny Flagg, Kristin Hannah,Jodi Picoult...

And the author who wins the "way too full of himself" award is...David Baldacci, for the stories he told actually made his chest puff up with importance. Like the time someone dared to think he was a different author when they saw him at the airport...yuk.

Yes! I got to meet Jasper Fforde when he was doing a book tour for The Women Who Died A Lot. He also signed my favorite book of his, Shades of Grey. He was friendly and told a lot of fun stories during his talk before the signing.

I envy you! Fforde is a hero of mine.

I've met literally hundreds of writers at conventions, signings and the like. 99% are friendly and awesome.

Yes!!! My husband and I went to Louisiana to visit my wonderful friend and her family. Well we were there the library that my friend works are was having an author there as a guest. The author was\is RHONDA DENNIS. I had never met an actual author. It was so nice to meet someone with such amazing talent. I am a hard person to get stuck in a book.....long story. But these books she writes, they grab you and pull you right in. You don't want the book to let you go.

The only authors that I have met in person were friends of mine who self published their books. I would love to meet some of the authors of the books on my shelves.

Oh my gosh, I went all the way down to USC and it just happened to be a book event at the university when I visited. I was supposed to leave on Saturday, but I squeezed in time to attend since I really wanted to meet Marie Lu, but when I got there, it turns out she would only be there on Sunday. Needless to day, I was incredibly disappointed. :(

I met an author and I had a mixed feeling during that time. I was proud, elated and humbled to meet a very simple man behind the pages of great ideas.

I've had the pleasure of watching some authors speak, but the only one I've ever talked to is John Green.

Unless I have bumped into one without realizing it, I have never met an author. My dad on the other hand met an author called Jeffrey Barnes and got a signed copy of The Wisdom of Walt, which he then gave to me. I would recommend this book to anyone, it is an excellent read.

I've met several: Kevin Hearne (funny as hell), Richard Kadrey (creepy), Patrick Rothfuss (awesome), and George RR Martin (adorable). I've tried a couple of times to meet Jim Butcher, but Mysterious Galaxy bookstore failed in a big way when they hosted him. I admit to having my fangirl moments while meeting authors. Somehow the idea of meeting movie stars leaves me cold.
