A good author for 10 year olds is Dav Pilkey. He comes up with really creative ways to make something funny. :lol2:

This is a great question! There are plenty of great authors and books out there. It also depends on the kid's reading level, so take that into consideration in the following list:

-Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. This one is a bit advanced, but I believe every child will benefit from this series.
-Magic Tree House series by Mary Pope Osborne
-Artemis Fowl series by Eoin Colfer

These are fantastic series to begin with and move on to advanced books as your child grows.

I always recommend reading the Newbery Award and Honor books. There is such a variety of genres and reading levels, and you always know that you're going to get good examples of writing.
