Re: Edgar Allen poe
A rather good C.D. of someone's interpretation of the Poe stories here, a bit dated but very listenable. It features Orson Welles on narration....

or whether you have already heard of the writer I'm writing about it still might be interesting to know.
The writer Emily Dickinson had similar writing style as Edger Allan Poe.
Similarities were in the darker side of writing about sorry, terror and death.
They both wrote poetry.
Also there interest was similar. They both were born in Massachusetts,
Both had tragic losses in early lives and both dealt with them in self destructive ways.

Wow, that's really interesting to hear. I'll have to read something major of hers.. I'm sure i've read something of her works but I can't recall, i'd have to venture back into my bookshelf.odinaesir wrote:Don't know if this topic is redundant and you are still interested in similar writers to Edger Alla Poe.

Glad you found it interesting. I should have mention she was similar to Edger Allan Poe in her poems which where not publish till after her death.I don''t think she did shorts stories like Edger Allan Poe did.MelMariah wrote:

Also, read his unfinished play "Politian". Wish he'd complete it!

Yeah, I'd second that. Hawthorne's stuff is kind of like Poe in terms of mood and tone. I'd also say maybe a bit of Melville. How about modern authors? I don't think I've read a modern author with that Poe flare.she8178 wrote:Some of Hawthorne would be good.
