Steig Larsson so he could finish the "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" series and Douglas Adams because I would have loved to read more from him.

F. Scott Fitzgerald he and his wife Zelda seemed such an interesting couple to me. Also he is buried in a cemetery in the town where I grew up. http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/f-s ... story.html

That would be really freaky. Would he/she be a vampire? Or a zombie? I'd probably run away. I really want to know how The Mystery of Edwin Drood was supposed to end, but it wouldn't be worth Charles Dickens Zombie eating my brain with a nice chianti. Pffffffffffff.

The Apostle John, who wrote Revelations in the Bible.

First off - no, I am not a Christian. But if I can bring John back, a LOT of questions would be answered. Not just about Jesus, but about John's apocalyptic visions.

You have my vote let me know when you have been able to either invent the Time Machine or learn some Magic to bring her back somehow.

Jane Austen has to be my all time favorite author. She's a very good writer. Not only great at story telling but incredible at creating realistic characters which become part of your extended family. Emma, Elinor and Elizabeth will forever be part of my family.

I would love to bring back Mark Twain. He seemed to do it all - and he didn't have an easy life! Read Roughing It for some great tales of the west as Samuel Clemes detailed his adventures on the frontier. Though Twain was not a big drinker ( he enjoyed cigars much more than alcohol), i think he would take the time to sit down for a mug of beer or a glass of wine and tell me all about his fascinating life. He was gregarfious, sometimes vulgar, and most importantly, American to the core. I've also read that he was somewhat of a spendthrift, so I guess I'd be paying...but it would certainly be worth it!

I am elated that Jane Austen is such a popular choice. I grew up reading her books, and when I exhausted those, I began self-research into her works, her life, her family, the society and time in which she lived. I love reading the exchanges (in the form of letters) between her and her loved ones, especially to and from her sister Cassandra and her brother Henry. Out of all her siblings, she was definitely closest to them and it is evident they had as much love for her and she did them. I consider Jane to be a lifelong companion of mine, and am happy that so many on here feel the same about her writing as I do.
