Unexplained reduction in points

Post by va2016 »

Has anyone observed or faced an issue of unexplained reduction
in points in the recent past? Not sure if this is linked to the user
interface changes that has taken place. I have had two instances
of point reduction, one for 3 points, and one for 2 points in the
past week. Also, I received a 61% score for a book review, but
I have a feeling that less points have been added for that purpose than
it ought to be.

I have written to Scott on these, but I also wanted to check with
the community if anyone else is facing these issues.

Thanks & Best Regards.

I did see a reduction in my points recently. I couldn't quite figure why it went down so much, but I didn't pay extremely close attention before. So it's really hard to know if it was justified.

There should be a breakdown of the different metrics explaining your score on the Reviewer Score tab of the Review Team Page. To track changes and their reasons, you would need to also keep track of the metrics listed. In other words, the question is which of all the metrics is the one that went down.

Scott,

Unfortunately, no explanations in any of the metrics or the history for the reduction of points.

Specifically in the last 10 days,

1. my points went down from 15 to 12 with no explanation.
2. A review completed and points up from 12 to 16.
3. Again points went down from 16 to 14 with no explanation.

There were no actions from my side which would have resulted in a reduction of points
because of a penalty or otherwise. If these were indeed penalties, I would expect that to reflect
in the history, but there's no such reasons in history either.

Request you to go through the database for my case, and point me to why the 5 points
were reduced.

Thanks.

After careful analysis of my points, I figured that the 5 points (3+2) got reduced in two steps in the editorial score. I checked the editorial score and made sure everything was okay. The only possible explanation is that the system (that calculates the points) did a step-wise reduction instead of a one-time reduction after a review was completed. Thanks everyone for listening and providing your inputs.

Same thing happened to me, my score went down after not really doing anything I could see to cause it, resulting in less reviewing options. I wrote and received a reply from Scott, much the same as yours above. I am taking most of the blame as far as not always understanding all the ins and outs of the site as a whole, but I just keep plowing ahead and trying to do the things I DO understand to improve my overall score. It is the reviewing I primarily enjoy, and am not quite as interested in the daily drawings, etc. But, I try!

Is it possible that your newer reviews have had less replies or people viewing them? That impacts your score some.
