An add book to book shelf option on official reviews

Post by kio »

As i was reading some of the recent official reviews by review team members, I noticed that I found myself saying I'd love to add the book i was reading the review on to my to be read bookshelf. To do so, however, I would have to leave the review. I think it would be cool to be able to follow a link on the review to its bookshelf link for those times when I'm not quite yet ready to pick the title up for reading. That way i wouldn't forget the title.

Good idea, Kio. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll run it by the other mods. We have recently been discussing ways in which the Bookshelves and the forums could be more complementary and I think this would help :)

Good idea indeed.

You can actually do this already. If you look at the bottom of the official review there is a link to bookshelves. It is right next to the link where you can purchase the book. It directs you straight to where the book is in the bookshelves and you can place it in your "want to read" bookshelf.

Yes, but Kio is asking for a menu on the review itself to simply add the book to one's shelves without navigating away from the page. You can, of course, simply open the bookshelves link in another tab or browser, but this could be avoided entirely by having the more direct route :)

Yes! This would make the "going to read" shelf so much easier to update. Although it's been a couple of years since this suggestion, hopefully it's something someone is looking into.

There is a button above the book's cover that allows this. :tiphat:

Thank you! I'm not seeing it above the book cover. The only buttons I see above the book cover are one to report a post and one to quote/respond to it.

Odd! I've checked on my computer and another. Both show this...

I appreciate your help! It isn't so much of an inconvenience to "view in bookshelves" from the list of recent book reviews that I can't just go do it that way.
