Hey everyone! Gandalf's here!

If you've been congratulated by him, then you've arrived.

Where's Fran ?

Frannie, get out here and take a bow!

Maybe she's shy ..... wait a minute ... Fran ? ..... NEVER !

Now please note Fran, thus far I have been only using single exclamation marks, but I warn you, if you do not make an appearance and graciously accept your olive wreath I am going to start posting MULTIPLES ! (*Whispering* she just HATES multiple exclamation marks.)

FRAN-NIE ! FRAN-NIE ! FRAN-NIE ! FRAN-NIE ! FRAN-NIE ! FRAN-NIE ! FRAN-NIE ! FRAN-NIE !

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Aside to Gandalf: Back when you first subscribed to the site and I first saw your handle I was practically on the floor laughing ! For some odd reason I don't think Ian McKellen is amused though *LOL*

This website literally would not be possible without the help of @Fran and @gali :banana-dance: So I want to say both congratulations and thank you!

@ryanj1 and @Graverobber have also helped out incredibly, not only in a huge way with Bookshelves but many other valuable ways as well. So I was happy to make them global moderators. @Escapeartist also deserves mention for stepping up and helping out as the newest Bookshelves Moderator. So many thanks to all of them and all the other members, reviewers and authors who make this such a wonderful community. :D

Thank you all for the very kind comments.
We have a great community here and I thank you all for making moderating such an easy job really but it has to be admitted gali has been doing alot more than me of late.
But we have had very few contentious or disagreeable events and when compared with what I've seen on other websites I think we clearly have a superior & much more sophisticated membership here. (I find flattery works every time)

@DATo
Shouldn't that be laurel?
My first exectutive act will be to ban excessive use of the (!) I will be keeping an extensive log of infringers - be warned.

Now folks get back to the books :lol:

It's funny and timely that you brought up the excessive use of exclamation points. I am currently reading a review book where the author constantly uses exclamation points. Considering the subject matter is somewhat serious, the overuse of them is so annoying.

I came across that issue while I was studying editing!!! It's human nature for an author to put them in everywhere; however, readers don't like it! I hold back in my professional writing, but not in my posts or emails!!! It's too hard!!!

:!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!:

Hi, Gandalf!!
Belatedly hi back! :lol:

Also: what changes can we expect with these new positions? Is it like in high school where the new student body president promises to get new vending machines installed on campus?! I prefer spicy cheetos!!!

Congratulations to the overlords! And thank you, Scott, for your words. And Gali.

Now, as a mere global moderator my influence is of course very limited, but I will be working closely with the overlords to guarantee at least one swimming pool and sauna in every forum. If you're lucky you'll get spicy Cheetos, but these overlords are a difficult bunch, so I wouldn't hold me to it :)
