True, true! It's also hard for me sometimes to focus on the bigger picture and remember that the scores are based on averages. As I do more reviews, I know my score will increase. Unfortunately, right now, I'm in a critical place with a score of 78. My score has fluctuated a lot over the past few months, and I've ranged anywhere from 70 to 95!

My score went up with the bonus points--Thank you Scott!--then down because of an author dispute--yikes--then back up with different bonus points--then back down because I forgot to confirm that I'd downloaded my book and I got a warning notice--my bad!

I think I'm going to start following the leads of the Members of the Month (congrats Bookowlie!) and just focus on doing great reviews and not focus so much on each individual score. I also always appreciate constructive criticism because part of the point of writing is to get better!

Thanks Amybo for the kind words. I hope my comments didn't come across that each individual edit/score isn't meaningful. Of course, an editor's comments should be taken as constructive. In the instance I mentioned, beyond the one or two petty remarks was a constructive point about having a summary that was too long and detailed. The funny thing is that I already wasn't happy with the summary I wrote for that particular review - sometimes I can be my own worst critic. :) As we all have experienced, some books are just difficult to summarize in a concise way.

It sounds like some of the yo-yo effect from your score was from an author dispute (frustrating!) and a warning over the download. I don't know the details of the author's dispute so I can't speak about that in a detailed way. However, one way to look at it is sometimes you can use the experience to write future ending blurbs in a different way. Anyway, it sounds like you are on the right track!

Thanks, bookowlie! I am also often my own worst critic! I mean, a score of 7 or 8 isn't that bad, but I'm always thinking, "What could I have done to make it higher!?" I agree that summaries can be difficult. I've recently done a couple of non-fiction books and a collection of poetry, and those summaries can sometimes feel like you're just rewriting the book!

I hope my comments didn't come across as negative; I love OBC!!

Do you guys get to see the comments made by editors??? I've never seen any on mine. I have no idea what I am doing wrong. Or right, for that matter.

I see mine under my history section in the review team forum. If I click on the percentage given for each review, it brings up the comments by the editors. I hope this helps! :)

I only saw one editor's comment since joining, and the comment was from 7 or 8 months ago. I always thought seeing the comments was a random thing, since I only saw one. Right or wrong, I just keep on going. :)

I don't see comments either. Never have. Not once. I guess Scott loves me too.

Only in a different way.

As Tina Turner would say, "What's love got to do with it?" At a certain level, the editors automatically get full points for editorial analysis of their reviews. I would imagine that's why the editor comments are not showing up. Sorry to burst anyone's love balloon.
