I have really loved having books recommended by the review team as books of the month. This is especially cool because often times the authors will then participate in one way or another. For instance, I love how Meg ( @zeldas_lullaby ), the author of the June book of the month Forever Twelve, has become an awesome member of the community site, not even close to just in ways that regard her books.

So what you all think of the idea of putting in the nomination and voting system to vote between books that have been recommended by the review team as book of the month.

Alternatively, @bookowlie had a great idea that I liked to maybe have a book or review of the week chosen from the reviewed books that would be standalone to the book of the month system.

In any case, I will have this all decided and ready to go very soon.
Thanks for the mention of my suggestion! I originally suggested picking a few of the review books because it would be nice to give more exposure to the indie books reviewed here. I assume authors pay to have their particular book review to get more exposure and buzz. Highlighting some of these books, whether as a standalone book or review of the week, could help.

Of course, previous BOTM's such as Paper Towns, The Miniaturist, Gone Girl, etc. are also great since members can opt to get them out of the library, if they so choose. I like the idea of alternating between the nomination/voting system and the review team's picks. Another option could be to sometimes have the members nominate a few books from the previous months' reviews and then everyone could vote among a select number of choices you've selected.

OK, rambling post is over.

As for the voting system for the previous BOTM's, my choice never winds up being the one picked. Maybe I am jinxing my choice by voting for it.
My choice has also never been selected. But I probably have strange taste. Because I'm really an alien.
The worse is when my choice wound up 2nd in the "election results".....soooo close. I usually also jinx the grocery line. Whatever line I go on is the one where the customer's item doesn't ring up right or the cashier is just the slowest horse in the race.

I liked the previous system because I was able to get the BOTM from the library. Alternation between the two options, as was suggested above, will be a good comprise.

Thank you for the kind words, Scott! I love your web site!! :-) It's fun!

I actually initially came on here to promote my book, but then I wound up liking everyone!! :o You all are too much fun! :o

I'm probably happy with any BOTM arrangement that is decided upon! I enjoyed reading the short stories and am looking forward to the two upcoming books, which haven't come in the mail yet. 8)

I simply don't understand it. Probably because of my huge, adult brain.

Ha ha ha...I did write two lines of words for you. Next time I will add some big words for your enjoyment.
I used to have a neighbor that was the most obnoxious person. She spoke as if she read the dictionary every morning so that she could include many sophisticated words in conversation....words that most people would never use in normal, everyday conversation. She was not a brainiac by any means; in fact, she wasn't even that intelligent. I think she was trying to keep up with the Jones'. When you got to know her, it was clear she was not that smart at all, which made the posturing all that more annoying.

In my unofficial capacity I agree that Zeldas_lullaby can have Grover and bookowlie can have the line dancing bananas. That is my official decree.

Hahah! You are all awesome! Scott, as usual, thanks for clearing things up! I love Bookowlie's suggestion of alternating between review team nominees and the previous system. I also really like being able to vote on which book will be BOTM. I think having a more traditional selection, something like Gali mentions you can get from the library, also helps lend legitimacy to the site as a whole. Or maybe we should just let the BOTM Boss continue. Lol!

Oops...sorry about the typo. That's what happens when I post a comment from my iPhone or Kindle Fire. This typo is tame compared to some of my weird spelling overrides.

I like being able to vote, too! I like the whole process of looking up the 5 books and figuring out which ones I would like to read.

I send out my vote on a lil piece of paper with a pigeon. If it comes back to me, it's mine. If it doesn't, it never was.
