Maybe you can match your hat to the seasons. Summer is coming up, so you could take a photo in a beach hat. Then Christmas will be a Santa hat, of course. By the way, you're welcome for the suggestions. :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling:

It's going on right now. Scott just posted an update a few days ago. You can now vote for the BOTM on Bookshelves.

Go to the Book of the Month forum and scroll down to the threads after the BOTM selections. Scott posted an update.

You can now nominate and vote for books of the month directly from Bookshelves. When viewing a book's page on Bookshelves, you can click 'nominate for book of the month' to nominate the book for book of the month.

I know we can nominate books...that's awesome 8)
I'm lost as to voting, though

And I was really just curious as to when the next actual vote would take place for, like what month?
Also, how can we tell what's been nominated? :eusa-think:

Well I programmed the nomination system so that it can always be open. This way a member can always nominate or change their nomination to any book at any time, and the book will be just be nominated for the next vote whenever that happens to be.

In the new system, the nominations act like votes in an initial vote between countless possible books, and then a 'runoff vote' is held between the top five most nominated books.

My plan is to send out an email newsletter announcing when that vote starts which will include the end date. Note, members who have "Administrators can e-mail me information:" set to "No" in the Board Preferences tab of the Control Panel will NOT be sent this newsletter. So, if you want the announcement, make sure that is set to Yes.

Currently, I am planning to set the vote for September. I haven't chosen how long to wait for nominations for the September vote and how long to allow the vote between the winning nominations to take place. I want to see the rate at which nominations come in before I make these decisions.

Could we have a way to get to the nominations page without nominating? Either from the forum or the bookshelves?

Also, is there some sort of minimun bookshelves popularity requirement?
Because I tried to nominate a book and it was rejected :eusa-think:

There are a few guidelines for the nominations. One of them is a minimum popularity ranking on Amazon. Is it possible that your book choice didn't meet that rule?

Nope. That was my first thought, too. I checked.

I give up, oh Great Gravymaster of the Bookshelves! Maybe it's just a glitch that Scott can fix.

I have changed the popularity requirement to: it must already be in 4 people's shelves. That means assuming it is in the nominator's shelf, only 3 other people need to have it in their shelves.

For books that are not meeting that requirement, I would suggest making a topic about the book in the Reviews and Discussions about Specific Books and Series Forum. You can include a link to the Bookshelves page and invite other members to add it to their shelves. It's important to include some other content of course than just an appeal to add it to people's shelves, such as your own brief review of the book if you read it or otherwise a brief explanation of why you think it would be a good prospect for a book club.
