This is Frustrating!

Post by debbiebee »

I know I always seem to be whining about something, but please help! When I try to post things sometimes I keep getting told a similar post already exists and try as I might, can't get it accepted. For instance, I wanted to ask about suggestions for childhood memoirs (in general book queries) but it kept being refused because it included the words childhood and memoir, which did indeed exist in other posts, but not, so far as I could see, in the combination I wanted! I even had to make several attempts at this one, excluding words post or tips, which led to a rather vague topic title. I know it's not of earth-shattering importance (btw there WAS a minor earth tremor here in eastern England today, but no damage done!!) but it can be enervating. Sorry for silly query.
It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see.

I see you managed to post. If the post you want to open isn't similar to an existing one,, just change the wording.

I hardly ever make new topic posts (I have this weird fear of having my posts locked, don't ask!), but like gali suggested, maybe just try changing the wording. Or make the subject longer and more specific. Suggestions:
Looking for childhood memoirs? Any ideas?
Any suggestions for children memoirs from celebrities?
Searching for memoirs of famous authors from their childhood.

I don't know exactly what you are looking for, but I think putting as much as you can in the subject will help make it more unique and less likely to be flagged as a double topic.

It is my understanding that unless the titles exactly match, you will still be able to post it. If similar titles are found, they are shown in a linked listed with something of a warning message advising that the topic may already exist. However, you should still be able to post the topic without changing the title. If it is not working like that, then that is a glitch.
