Create subforums for original, creative writing?

Post by Scott »

There is currently only a single "writing" forum here. I have a suggestion to add some subforums for posters to post their original writings such as short stories and poems for comments and feedback. What do you think? Would you like this?

Is it a good idea to do it as subforums to the writing section?

I think a few subforums would be a good idea! Interested in learning more about writing and having different areas to check out would help me.

I share the opinion of those above.

In addition to being an outlet for posters to share their work it would also serve to create a means for constructive criticism which can result in improving the writing skills of those who participate. I think we would be amazed at the level of talent we have here among our site patrons.

I think doing it as subforums would be best because it would separate the two classes of writing. Some posters might be more interested in poetry and others with short stories. Putting both in one venue would sort of make a mashup in which the readers would have to painstakingly pick through each post to determine which posts are poetry and which are stories.

Great idea! This is already a thriving reading community, so why not make it a writing one too?

Okay, unanimous decision, then! :)

I think I will wait a month until the short story contest submission deadline, so as to not detract from that.

In fact, perhaps the new short story subforum would be a good place to publish the short stories that don't win, many of which will still probably be great stories.

haha. Yes 100% yes. And that sounds good too. Makes sense. And then those who aren't chosen can discuss their works here, and get some constructive criticism.

I love the idea! It would be nice to share and read a variety of poetry and short stories right here in these forums. There are so many creative minds amongst us.

Haha, it seems like everyone likes the idea. I'm not big on reading/writing short stories or poetry, personally, but it might be nice for those who are into it. And it would be good to have it separate from the general writing forum, like how we have the specific stories separate from the general reading threads. I like the idea! Two thumbs up from me!

Dato, I really hope that you intend to post a short story or two. I am really looking forward to reading some of your work.

Love the idea of having the stories that didnt win in the new sub-forum. I'll be entering a story, and while im sure I wont win, Id love feedback on how to improve.
