I already applied and the screen said I was going to get an e mail to start the process. But I still have not gotten the e-mail. Do I need to resubmit, or is this common and I will get that e-mail eventually?

The email should have been sent instantly. Are you sure you entered the correct email address? Did you check your spam folder?
