Re: Why You Should Read "Holding Fire"
Like TLGabelman, I like holding a physical book in my hands but, for the first time ever, I have bought the electronic version of this particular book. I want to read all the stories in advance of the upcoming discussions.
I'd also like to send Scott an electronic high five for all of his hard work in making writers' dreams come true!
Cheers!

I could relate to this story. I think we all know Pam in one fashion or another.lovejoybr wrote:Hello Readers & Writers! Sending an enormous THANK YOU to everyone who has bought/will buy the book. I wrote "Dog Eat Dog" which is one of the stories in this anthology and I am excited to hear everyone's feedback.
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

As a former editor of an e-zine could I politely suggest that the authors featured in this book be open to the kind of constructive criticism which might arise in these discussions.
It is such a valuable tool for future writing, and I would hate to see anyone miss out on that, but it is one of my misgivings about discussing a work in a book club when the author is present.
At the same time, may I suggest to the participants that we do not hold back either for the same reason?
Just talking from a place of experience. . .
That's right, I have a muse. It is spelled MusE. My writing is influenced by the interactions of people I meet - us and ME.

This is good advice even if it has me shaking in my shoes. I'm open for whatever comes my way. I know a lot of good can come from it.Katherine E Wall wrote:I am buying the book today. Yay.

I look forward to continuing the reading, and the great discussions we are bound to have.

Due to personal reasons, I try to avoid books that focus much on suicide. Would someone who has read the whole thing mind telling me if this comes up in it (and if so, which stories)? Thanks!!

My PM box is open if anyone knows and is willing to share. I'd like to read it but don't want to find myself in an uncomfortable situation. I have to be careful with books that advertise self-destruction on the cover.

I like that idea.bookowlie wrote:I am really excited to read a book where all of the authors are also members of this site. Maybe there can be a Q and A with the authors during the BOTM discussion.

Thank you. I hope you get a copy and read it cover to cover. I'm not pushing my own story but the other nine in there are very good and well worth the time it takes to read them.Thesaurus Rex wrote:I am glad to hear of this book! Congratulations to everyone who was included as writers!
