Does anyone get the E-book samples before the actual book?

Post by CYMH090909 »

Since I've had my Nook I have downloaded hundreds of samples of the E-books and honestly I think if they didn't let me get that little sneak peak I most likely wouldn't buy the actual book. A lot of the time I'll download the sample book read it then go and buy the paper back but having that sample makes it easier just to go right to the book an purchases it right from your reader.

Yes! I would be so mad if I bought a book and it was horrible.
Somewhere out there is a world we never knew existed.

Languages never spoken.
Colors that should not be.
Lives never opened.
Eyes that never see.

And then the page is turned, a universe created.

I always do. It's not any different from browsing the books in a bookstore. I find that a book I absolutely love can be a piece of crap in someone else's eyes so I can not really depend on reviews. The only way I could know if I'll enjoy a book or not is by reading the first few pages.

I also like to read the sample because they give an idea if I will buy and if I will like it.Usually the samples are like 10 pages and that is enough to get me sucked into the book;)

I always do. I like to read it to get a feeling about the book and to see if the writing is to my taste.

I try to get as many as I can. It's usually the only way I know for a fact that I will like the book before buying it.

only if there are no reviews, or if the reviews seems a little sketchy. Otherwise, nope.

Yeah but sometimes reviews might not add up to how good you think the book is going to be and then you buy the book and it's terrible or not up to expectations. If you get the free e-book sample you will get a feeling for the book you otherwise wouldn't.

I don't because the first couple chapters of a book is usually slow. I just read the summary and MAYBE reviews. If I think I'll like it, I'll buy it. (I'm talking about physical books online.)

I have done the same thing lately too! If I'm at work and I have a little bit of spare time, I will go on the Amazon website and look at the sample pages that they let you read online too. Right from the Amazon website (if you are logged in) you can click to automatically download the book. It's great! I thought I would never switch over to the Kindle but now I love it.

I do. This is good for me because if I can't get into a book fairly quickly, I may not finish it. I have two young kids so my reading time is precious. If the book doesn't get me in the sample, I won't waste my time continuing to read.

I do this pretty often - I just bought a book without sampling and regretted it. Self-help style book and I disagree with much of the author's ideology which makes the book a difficult read. :/ Waste.
