If the company works closely with the author, I could see that being a great idea!

I don't like to have music playing in the background when I read. I actually like for there to be no noise...I will leave the room if someone is watching tv. That be said, for me I would not buy a soundtrack that went with a book.

I don't see the point. Kind of takes away from reading the story, doesn't it?

I read with background noise from my husband and animals. I like the idea of a sound track for a novel, but I would probably want it when re-read the novel. The first time I want to use my imagination to experience the events of the story.

I read a book where a girl was a popstar and they got someone to record a whole cd of the imaginary character's songs. I thought that was REALLY cool. But I listened to it after the book I read was finished. I don't listen to soundtracks while reading

I always have music playing while I'm reading, I love the idea of a soundtrack but If you read faster or slower than average then the music wouldn't match with what you are reading.

If the soundtrack has no singing that I can decipher, I think it will be okay. But then the only problem I could think of would be matching my pace to the soundtrack's pace...unless each track corresponds with a chapter/part or so.

I don 't think this would work for me. I find music distracting while I am reading

I could see a lot of people getting into this. I have even heard of authors creating their own soundtracks for their books based on the music they listened to while writing. For me, it would be pointless because I don't like to listen to anything while reading. It's just distracting, and I would tune out the music anyway.

I would wonder how they'd get the soundtrack to go with the book, unless we're talking about e-books, i.e., when you press for the next page the music changes. But I don't know how that would work. How would they know exactly how long it would take me to get to the romantic line, or the shocking line, or the scary line, or whatever?

That's my idea of a good soundtrack. Something you can choose yourself. :-)

I can concentrate on reading while listening to musics, but I prefer silence when I read.

I read an interactive online comic book several years ago that utilized a similar function. It was all instrumental, so it wasn’t very distracting. It was space-themed and otherworldly too, so it added a lot of dazzle to the ambiance. I think it worked really well for that comic, and I certainly think it could work for other genres of literature, but it wouldn’t be my go-to. Sometimes, it’s just nice to read in silence. I can see it being a useful tool for someone who has trouble focusing attention.
