Boo said - I don't have to hold the book. I can change the size of the text and read with or without glasses. :geek2: :shock2:
Same goes for me. When I download a new Ebook, I check and adjust the size of the text and background lighting for easier reading. And with a lot of smartphone holders, I don't even have to hold the 'book' myself. I don't care about my reading speed because every time I read an Ebook it is for my own enjoyment and to pass the time away. :techie-studyinggray:

I read e-books faster because I get to adjust the settings to my convenience. On the other hand, I read paperbacks longer; e-books hurts my eyes when I stay on it for long.

There's the same amount of words in a paper book than there are in an ebook, so I don't see how the speed would be different?

I think it depends on the reader himself.

eBooks cause strain in my eyes and I have to take frequent breaks in between reading it. Whereas, I read a physical book without any problem and my speed increases while reading a printed book. :)

Well, the brightness of an e-book is definitely a factor. For the case of books, the lighting of one's surroundings is a factor. Both have their own trade-offs.

I don't think that's true...... It maybe just a speculation on behalf of the person who stated that fact to you

I can read both paper books and the ebooks at the same speed.

That depends on an individual. For me, the opposite is true. I read ebooks faster than physical books.

I think I read slower when I read a physical book because if I come across any word that I don't understand, I have to go to my computer/phone to search for its meaning, but while reading an ebook, I can just check it right there.

Reading from paper is 10–30% faster than reading from a screen, according to certain studies. But for me, reading from e-readers is faster than from actual books. That might be as a result of my decreased access to print books. I consume numerous free ebooks.

Sometimes my Kindle shows pages and other times a location identifier. When I'm trying to get through a book, it can be frustrating to be at location 100 of 2,700. Makes me feel like I will never get through the ebook.

I definitely do read slower on my Android than I do on a real book, but I think at least some of that is that while I've always sort of speed-read novels, when it's electronic text I automatically take care to parse every single word; a remnant of years of computer wor
