Humbug to Happiness by David Gibbs is a motivational book to help you break free from your past and create a happier, healthier life.

If you find yourself constantly torn down by your inner critic, pulled into unhealthy relationships, or drawn to various forms of addiction, then Humbug to Happiness is the book for you. It will guide you to the root cause behind your negative lifestyle and give you practical tools to help you move forward.

I enjoyed reading this book. There is a lot of good information and I found it very inspiring. The author places a lot of focus on understanding and becoming free from the pain of your past. I think the methods and advice he gives are sound and will help anyone who is willing to put it into action. Much of his teaching is similar to the help I have received from a counselor in the past, which is not surprising considering the author has years of experience as a counselor.

I love that this book emphasizes putting the things you learn into practice. Too often we can read books and gain knowledge without ever taking action. This does absolutely nothing to bring about the changes we would like to see in our life. I am happy to see that the author addresses this important issue.

In my opinion, good examples are crucial for a self-help book. I love the examples in this one because it uses quotes and ideas from classic literature like A Christmas Carol, The Wizard of Oz, The Bible, and let's not forget The Itsy Bitsy Spider! Additionally, the author gives examples from his own personal experience with counseling.

The end of each chapter has questions and exercises for you to put into practice. I admit, I am the worst at following through with exercises in a book. I almost always forget to do them once I finish reading. However, there was one exercise in this book that really resonated with me and I have been able to commit it to memory so I can remind myself of it throughout the day.

My rating for Humbug to Happiness is 4 out of 4 stars. It is well written and relatively short, which is always great for busy people. I did not come across any grammatical errors, though there are a few spots where I feel some words are used repetitively. However, that is a minor issue and it did not keep me from enjoying the book. I highly recommend it to anyone desiring to become free from their past and improve their outlook on life.

I like that the book included exercises and questions to help the reader really think about and understand the text. I agree that giving examples of situations or quoting well-known people/movies/books is a must in a self-help book. Great review!

Yes I will never look at the Itsy bitsy spider the same again! My children love that nursery rhyme and I am reminded of the author's analogy when I do it with them.

Thank you for sharing about the examples and the emphasis on putting the information into practice. I am also interested in reading how the author encourages the reader to develop an understanding of the origins of their negative self-thoughts. Great review - very helpful!

Love the encouraging book. So many people struggle with pain from the past. It's a good thing it is short. Often people won't pick up a self-help book if it is lengthy :D Thanks for the review!

I enjoyed the review. It sounds like the author uses interesting analogies, such as quotes from the Bible and movies. I like that the book is short and to the point. Maybe more people will find the time to read it.
