I love looking through cookbooks for ideas and recipes. Many times they are just inspiration for me, as I like to make up my own thing. Often I will take a recipe and put my own spin on it.

I recently reviewed a cookbook on my blog that I highly recommend for it's variety and how easy the recipes are to follow. It is called Down South: Bourbon, Pork, Gulf Shrimp & Second Helpings of Everything by Donald Link.

Cookbooks give us a fair idea on how to do it. Eventually one has to do things on their own. :)

After hearing an NPR interview, I have ordered Good and Cheap: Eat Well on $4/Day by Leanne Brown. There's a bonus for the consumer: with every copy of Good and Cheap purchased, a second copy will be given to a person or family in need.

I really like cooking books. Even if I don't follow the recipes I love taking ideas from there. For me it is essential that this kind of books came with beautiful pictures or illustrations.

I don't really own many cook books as I usually just find my recipes online. It definitely helps to check out new recipes though because you never know what amazing new food you might want to cook.
