The last really good non fiction book I read was Eric Johnson's "What We Knew." This is a series of interviews with German citizens trying to work out what people suspected about the holocaust. Its pretty good but there's a lot of biographical information about the people he interviews which is not always helpful in answering the question.

A Boy Called It by David Pelzer.
It has a true story about a child that was abused severely (the author was the child) and it sends a powerful message in its pages.

Tramp for The Lord by Corrie Ten Boom

It was like sitting down with Tante (Aunt) Corrie and having her explain the Christian life. She spent time in a German concentration camp and yet found a way to forgive.

The most recent non-fiction book that I'veread was Girl, Interrupted by Susanna Kaysen. I chose to read it because I loved the movie so much and was not disappointed. So much more thought and insight available in the novel and so well written. Thought provoking and interesting :D

I loved the Lincoln book. It was so real to me and the use of his actual timelines and quotes throughout the book made you feel like you were on the campaign trail with him. It was a very inspiring book to read.

Last Call by Okrent was probably the last great one I've read. The book details the prohibition movement and its repeal in the early 20th century. An added bonus is that the Appendix is the U.S. Constitution.

Parallel Journeys (forgot author)

It was amazing! It is written similarly to a fiction book so it is easier to read. I really recommend it.

I recently saw the movie "The Monuments Men" and thought it was amazing, but then I found the book it was based on in my local bookstore. I thought it was amazing! It's about a group of men during WWII that try to protect art from being destroyed during the war. It's a different angle on WWII, which was nice, and as a pacifist I appreciated a war book that was about preserving things instead of tearing them apart.

The Wine Savant by Michael Steinburger

An altogether witty and informative little book by a "not-a-wine-snob" oenophile. He refers to himself as a "grape nut". Inspiring and funny.
