A family of three sisters in 1800s England pin their hopes to the one surviving male nephew. As he lists out of control, the sisters move to London to try to help him gain balance. Their dedicated maid follows. Life is not always so easily managed, though, and the maid steadfastly helps her favorite mistress endure the struggles. A lifelong tie of friendship binds these two women as they both meet love and tragedy along the way.
