I remember reading this book in school. It was a good book but just sad ending.

I liked Romeo and Juliet myself. I actually enjoyed Shakespeare. Most of my classmates hated having to read Romeo and Juliet though. Our teacher made us read aloud and almost act it out. It was quite embarrassing then but rather funny now.

I hate the book it teaches people the wrong thing a three day romance in between a 13 year old and a 17 year old then they kill themselves in the end its not a tragity its just plain stupid.

I have read this book in my school years, and now I actually own it. While I've noticed that it was a tough book to understand, it was also one I really enjoyed.

Some say that Romeo and Juliet is making fun of love. These two lovers are young and childish SPOILER die for a stupid reason.

I love all things Shakespeare and Romeo and Juliet is definitely one of my favorites. That being said, it drives me crazy when people talk about needing to have a love like them. I tend to blow their bubbles by asking if they know how the story ends.

I read this book the first time while I was at school as it was part of the curriculum. I enjoyed it at that time mainly because of the hype the teachers and everybody made of it. It was apparently 'the most romantic love story'. Yet now that I am older, (and much more wiser, and cynical), I reread the book and have formed a vastly different opinion. Yes, Shakespeare writes well, but besides that, I found Romeo and Juliet to just be silly idiots who kill themselves over nothing.

“there have been so many times
i have seen a man wanting to weep
but
instead
beat his heart until it was unconscious.

Back when I first read this play, I didn't think all that much of it. As others have mentioned, it seems a bit silly to kill yourself over someone you've only known such a short time. But over time, I'm come to appreciate Shakespeare's gorgeous use of language in this.

This is probably my least favorite Shakespeare honestly. I much prefer Hamlet!

Romeo and Juliet is a very good story, only if you have patience and have alloted time in reading it with comprehension. Some books have that "retold" ones in which deep words are used which makes it boring. But despite of that, the moral values that it implicates to families who intervene their child's affair coz of young age is great. On the other side falling in love is not bad at the right age of course. In their case since they were young, the family of both sides should play great role in monitoring and supervising their child.
A romance and suspense.Great story of young lovers!

I hate the romance in it for being so fast paced and shallow, and I wish it werent still read in curricula today. I prefer other romances/tragedies I think, or at least something better done and not as superficial feeling.

I remember reading this book in school and hating it!!! Later on I decided to give it another go, and totally fell in love with it. I think it was just being made to read something and analysis every single detail became to much with such a complex book. Now I can just enjoy it for what it is, a great work of art.
