One of my favourite childhood books. This is also a very well written review. Very, very well done.

When I first read the Alice books, I thought they were lightly entertaining but without much substance. After another reading or two, I find them deeper than I had originally thought. Not that this is Finnegan's Wake or anything, but it isn't trying to be, and there is more than first meets the eye.

This is a classic that every young child should read and every adult should have already read. It's great to read it as an adult also because it helps to rediscover magic and imagination. That is something that many adult books lack and it is important to remember that it is still out there and it's ok to want to feel like a kid again.

I have just read it. And it is definitely a marvellous tale that twists your mind and makes you look at things in totally different ways that you would have never thought before. It deals with time, physics, magic and reality in such an outstanding way that in some passages you may find yourself literally in wonderland.

I used to think Alice in Wonderland was boring stuff until I actually took the time to read it instead of watching the Disney movie. I was incredibly impressed. Even though it was written well over a century ago, it stands as one of hte greatest works of literature in human history. It's not as good as the Book of Five Rings, but it's impressive.

I have to be quite honest, I very much disliked this book. I don't blame the writer; he has a wonderful imagination. I simply expected too much after growing up on all the re-tellings. I expected a more developed storyline and plot. When I read it for the first time, I kept waiting for the book to follow a plot instead of going here and there. It gave me a headache, and I got fed up with it. However, I did finish the book, or else I wouldn't allow myself to give a sour opinion. I must say, I expected too much from it: everyone, absolutely everyone talks about how great it is and how it is the best book, and so I was into the hype. It was that, that led me to become so disappointed in the real thing.

I agree except i don't think i fell for the hype i simply don't consider this or Through the Looking Glass very good. Nonsense like this tends to do better in poetry than prose in my opinion.

However i have heard that this is suspiciously similar to an earlier work 'Petsetilla's Posy' by Thomas Hood, so i might check that out sometime books.google.ie/books/about/Petsetilla_ ... edir_esc=y .

I have tried to read this book many times, but for some reason I can never get past the first few pages. For now it is waiting for me on my bookshelf. Some day!

Alice in wonderland is a book for all ages. When I was only 3 I enjoyed the Disney adaptation of it. When I was 5 my grandmother read it to me, when I was 9 I read the book myself (and quite loved it to add) and to this day I still reread it, if you are a reader and haven't read this you NEED too. You can read it to your children and read it to yourself and you will like it all the same

I enjoyed reading this book as a child and liked the fact that it gave the reader the scope to be imaginative. The manner in which Caroll crafted all the characters in the book and Alices' adventure in Wonderland, really captured my mind as a child.

Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll is a picture of the mind and a great hook to get children reading. The reason is Carroll takes you into a new world filled with fun and poetry.

This was probably one of the most interesting books of my childhood. The story of a child that ran into all sorts of interesting things. Was actually a bit afraid of the queen.
