Patricia Cornwell is one of my all time favorites. I love her series about Kay Scarpetta, a chief medical examiner. Her books are very enthralling, once I start one I can't put it down. If you like reading crimes and thrillers, any Patricia Cornwell novel is a must read!

Martha Grimes is an excellent writer and the characters in the Chief Inspector Jury series are quite entertaining especially Melrose Plant's aunt Agatha.

I have read all of Elizabeth George's novels and the only one I didn't care for was "What Came Before He Shot Her". I like the Barbara Havers character the best.

Reginald Hill's main character in the Dalziel and Pascoe series is the best.

I'm not sure if you would really call his a crime novel, but I just finised Moriarty by Anthony Harowitz and it is fabulous. It is set in after the 'deaths' of both Holmes and Moriarty, a new criminal group is running London and an American private detective joins forces with a detective from Scotland Yard to put an end to him.
