Stephen King The Dark Tower series
Like a lot of good books it's now being made into a movie, while I'm interested to see it, I think that they will have to cut out so much of the story that a lot of what makes it so great will be lost. I think it should be left as a book, what do other people think?

I also think with something as big as this book series, it may have been better to make a long-running show so they don't lose the details. Like Outlander, it is extremely popular as a tv show instead of 1 film. Or Under the Dome...which I think they ruined by going WAY off track from the book.

So, listen. The first book is not that great and very much unsatisfying because it doesn't answer a lot of questions, and it's a bit convoluted. However, I strongly recommend digging deep into your book-loving soul and faith in the second book. We can all agree that some stories take a little longer to get into, and for this series, the first book is just that. I greatly appreciated book numero 2 and am looking forward to reading the rest. tbh a guy on the subway convinced me to read the second one cuz he saw me reading the first one and gave me the same advice.Vickyoreo86 wrote:OK, so I have only read the Gunslinger, and really struggled to understand what was happening half the time. There’s also been a lot of directors interested in re-doing the Stand as a tv series. I read a while back Ben Afflek was interested.

Reading "The Stand" first is really helpful-- I couldn't figure out what was going on in The Gunslinger, and my friend who is really into King gave me a whole reading list of his titles that have threads that continue in The Dark Tower. It really does help.ColombianBookWorm wrote: ↑01 Oct 2017, 13:10So, listen.
