I would recommend the Harper Connelly Series by Charlaine Harris. Murder, mystery, and a little supernatural all mixed into one. It's comprised of four books, but I couldn't put them down...I went through them all in three days!!! Beautifully written!!

A nice one would have to be the Vampire Assistant series by Darren Shan. Now these are a young adult series but honestly it is pretty dark in terms of story line. I read these books to my little sister who is eight and she loved them. A lot of people die and you become completely shocked a who the author decides to kill off.

Another good one that i read recently is Dancing with a dead horse by Danielle DeVor. It is an excellent crime novel for yet again, young adults. It is a well rounded book about the a teenagers life with a bit of humor mixed in with the mystery.

The Heist by Daniel Silva
The Heist is the new book by Daniel Silva. It's the 15th book in the Gabriel Allon,
series. I'm an avid reader and book collector, l collect entire book series, I also read the entire series. I must say this series is the best book series in my entire book collection. These books are full of action, the plots are unbelievable, it's one surprise after another. These books are impossible to put down, the entire series is just awesome. This series is so good, I'm thinking about getting mine insured.Daniel Silva is one of the greatest writers today.l ran into this book series by chance at the book section in a salvation army store.l seen the book titled THE MESSENGER by Daniel Silva on the book shelf , read the back and decided to read it, Fourteen books later and I'm still loving this series.

I recently discovered British author Rachel Burton. She had three books, and it's great to "have a wallow" and go from one to the next without waiting! :)

I read a story called Sojarur kanta( the Quill of the Porcupine)  written by famous  Bengali detective writer Sarodindu Bandopadhay.
The story revolves around an unusual plot where we have a killer on the loose. The killer sticks porcupine quills into his victims heart in broad daylight using the cover of dense crowds. Police were baffled and the evergreen famous duo- Byomkesh Bokshi and Ajit were called in. They were helped by a victim who had...well lets  not spoil the fun..A must read for all those lovers of whodunits out there. Completely different from all western detective novels.. Explore the Byomkesh Bakshi series for a nice change.

Any books by Agatha Christie make amazing mystery books! But be warned, if you like a "solve it yourself" mystery, then you may be out of luck. Well, I wasn't able to solve any of them on my own, but maybe I'm just slow... Anyway, her books are very well written, and the plot is simple enough to follow, and complicated enough to hold your attention. I'm still going through her numerous books!

I would recommend The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith (aka J.K. Rowling). Although the first chapter started out slow, the book had a great main character, great plot, and a couple of twists. All in all, a good recipe for a great mystery.

Defending Jacob by William Landay. The book is very well-written and I had a real sense of the main characters. I thought I had the ending figured out, but there were a few twists in the book that I didn't see coming. It's not just a mystery, but a thought-provoking book about how different members of a family reacts to a crisis.

Highly recommend A Knife for Harry Dodd (George Bellairs) and Death on a Sunday Morning (J F Straker). These are two writers with extensive back lists and big fan followings.
Both are on a crime book promotion on Amazon and are free from today until the 31st of October (!)

OK. I have Defending Jacob on the shelf. Think I will dust it off and give it a try after I finish my current "to read" list. There are so many new authors and additions to serials that I follow that I am sooooo behind!
