Okay, so based on the summary alone, I probably wouldn't have picked this up, but the fact that this is somehow a fantasy book with some hidden secrets and whatnot really make me interested. And then your pretty positive review that this is a concise book that still manages to get well-developed characters pretty much sells it to me. Oh, wait, it was free today! Even better!
