Latest Review: "Kennedy's Revenge" by Stephen L Rodenbeck

Red Dragon Classic

Post by Colleen0701 »

When I read Red Dragon it was the first time I had any empathy with a serial killer. I'll never forget his name - Francis Dollarhide. Top marks to Thomas Hardy. In my opinion it's easier to write horrific things to shock the reader, and easy to get the reader to hate the protagonist. But strangely enough, even as Francis was killing people and other nefarious things, I still read it as if Francis was the victim. Definitely the book that made me question my preconceived notion that people are born bad. There are those kind, no doubt. But some people are made into bad/mad people at the hands of others. I guess there's only so many ways the mind can deal with trauma.
