This is the story of Joe, the main character who got locked up in the penitentiary for 15 years for murdering his wife and daughter, but he doesn’t remember doing it.

It starts out with Joe basically waking up/snapping out of it in a bus headed to a penitentiary. He doesn’t know why he’s there or what he did, he just misses his family. The prisoners and warden are pretty tough on him and beat him up so bad that he ends up in the infirmary several times for different injuries. There he meets a nurse who is interested in finding out what happened.

The first 80 pages are all about him in the penitentiary getting beaten to a bloody pulp, and the doctor and nurse being the only ones concerned about it. They were always trying to run tests to figure out his memory loss, but they don't get along very well with the warden. Plus, the warden really has it out for Joe and doesn’t give much respect to a convicted murderer.

On top of the constant beatings, Joe has some kind of stomach condition and manages to get his leg broken in the infirmary. But Joe is an inpatient man, and can’t get answers fast enough where he's at, so he breaks out of prison.

With a broken leg, he manages to make it pretty far- all the way back to NYC where he supposedly murdered his wife and daughter.Once he’s back in his former home, the mystery starts unfolding and then the suspense really begins. Lies, blackmail, and accomplices to the “supposed” crime start popping up.

However, I found that Oblivious conjured up more questions than answers. The plot should’ve been more developed with backstory.

There were some spelling and grammatical mistakes, like “curb” is spelled “kerb” several times and Bowers wrote “her” when he meant “here” (and vice versa), but the real reason why I give Oblivious 1 out of 4 stars is that the plot just needs to be more developed. The concept is good, but it’s hard to get into it when more background information is needed.

Not very much to go on here, but from what I can take from the little amount of opinions you've given here is that all this book needs is some editing.

That was a very honest review. It seems like the story focuses more on characterization and less on the plot.

Thanks kimmschemy06! Yes, that's exactly what it is...it was hard to give many opinions when I didn't have much to go on.
